Small injection, big effect!

In all southern countries there are diseases that do not exist in Germany and that are transmitted by ticks and mosquitoes.

Here in the Dominican Republic, there are dangerous infectious diseases such as distemper and parvovirus, which are highly contagious and lead to a cruel death of the animals. The chances of survival are very slim for both diseases.

After the basic immunization (2 shots at an interval of 4 weeks) dog has to be a vaccinated once a year against all infectious diseases (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus, rabies and optionally against kennel cough.)

Furthermore, your animal needs flea protection against ticks once a month to protect it from Ehrlichiosis and Babesiosis. Both diseases affect the blood cells and leads to bad wound healing, loss of appetite, weight loss, pale mucous membranes and bleeding (due to the breakdown of red blood cells ).

There are 2 types

In the case of drugs with a repellent effect, the parasites cannot cling to the dog so there can be no transmission.

These are drugs with ingredients such as permethrin or deltamethrin (Advantix, Scalibor, Exspot, Vectra etc.) that prevent infection completely by repelling the parasites.

Then there are drugs in which the parasites first suck blood and then die.

Theoretically, blood parasites could still be transmitted, but the probability is much lower since the ticks usually only transmit after some time and the assumption that they will die before is made.

Although this method isn’t as good as first option, it is at least better than no protection.

The active ingredients of these preparations are Fluralaner and Afoxolaner

(Frontline, Bravecto, Nexgard etc)

Last but not least, the animals must be dewormed (milbemycin or praziquantel) every 2 months.

Worms are zoonoses and therefore a threat to your children and fellow human beings.
